Cannot Access QTS 4.3.3/4.3.4 Shared Folders from Windows 11 24H2 – Requires Credential Manager Setup

Last modified date: 2025-06-19

Applicable Products

  • QTS 4.3.3, QTS 4.3.4
  • Windows 11 24H2

Overview

After upgrading to Windows 11 version 24H2, users may experience issues accessing shared folders on QNAP NAS running QTS 4.3.3 or 4.3.4 if credentials have not been pre-entered in Windows Credential Manager. This is due to stricter network authentication requirements introduced in Windows 11 24H2. Older QTS versions (4.3.3 and 4.3.4) lack modern SMB features and compatibility improvements, making them more sensitive to these changes and unable to complete authentication successfully without pre-configured credentials.

Solution

To resolve this issue, manually add your NAS login credentials to the Windows Credential Manager:

  1. Open Credential Manager
    1. Press Windows + S, type Credential Manager, and open it.
  2. Add a Windows Credential
    1. Click Windows Credentials.
    2. Select Add a Windows credential.
  3. Enter NAS Details
    1. Internet or network address: Enter your NAS IP or hostname (e.g., 192.168.1.100).
    2. Username: Enter your NAS username (e.g., admin).
    3. Password: Enter your NAS password.
  4. Retry Access
    1. Save the credential. Then open File Explorer and access the NAS using \\<NAS_IP>.
