Why can't I access my NAS after performing a 3-second reset?
Applicable Products
All QNAP NAS models
Overview
Pressing and holding the Reset button on the back of your NAS for 3 seconds performs a basic reset. This resets your network settings and the "admin" account's password to their default values. It does not delete any user data.
Specifically, this reset causes two changes that can prevent you from accessing the NAS the way you normally would:
- The NAS obtains a new IP address automatically via DHCP, so its previous IP address may no longer work.
- The "admin" account's password is reset to its default value.
Solution
- Launch Qfinder Pro on a computer to search for your NAS again, since it may now have a different IP address.NoteQfinder Pro can only detect NAS devices on the same local network as your computer. Make sure both your computer and the NAS are connected to the same local network (for example, the same router or switch) before searching.
- Once the NAS appears in Qfinder Pro, log in with the username admin and the default password for your firmware version:
- QTS/QuTS hero 5.2.0 or later: your device's Cloud Key
- QTS/QuTS hero 4.4.1–5.1.x: your NAS's MAC address
- QTS/QuTS hero 4.3.6 or earlier: admin
- If you're accessing the NAS by typing its IP address directly into a browser instead of using Qfinder Pro, make sure your computer's IP address is in the same subnet as the NAS.
