Procedure

Here we have collected some of the most common hardware issues that you might experience on your QNAP device and their recommended solutions. Please read the instructions carefully before you continue.

  1. Power off your QNAP device.
  2. Remove all the disks (including M.2 SSDs), expansion cards, and expansion units from the QNAP device.
  3. Install the original QNAP memory modules that came with your device.
  4. Power on the QNAP device.
  5. Check whether your device has the following issues.
    Note
If you have experienced the following hardware issues while your device is still under warranty, you may contact your local reseller.
    1. Check whether your LEDs on the front panel are working.
      • Yes: Go to Step b.
      • No: Your LEDs, power adapter, or power supply may have an issue.
    2. Check whether your device has a short beep when powering up.
      • Yes: Go to Step c.
      • No: Your device may have a U-BOOT or BIOS issue.
    3. After powering up your device for 2 to 4 minutes, check whether your device has one or three long beeps.
      • Yes: Go to Step d.
      • No: Your firmware may have a Flash/DOM failure. You may fix it following this Firmware recovery guide.
    4. Directly connect the QNAP device with your computer using an Ethernet cable and then launch Qfinder Pro on your computer. Slide the disks back into the drive bays while your QNAP device is powering on. Click the Details button on Qfinder Pro. Check whether all the disks have been detected.
      • Yes: Go to Step 6.
      • No: If one or more disks cannot be detected, either your drive bays or your disks may have a problem.
        1. Check the non-detectable disks: Install these disks on a PC and run the disk diagnostic tool provided by the disk manufacturer.
        2. Power up the NAS with the detectable disks and then replace the faulty disks.
          Important
Do not choose to initialize the system if Qfinder Pro displays a confirmation message.
  6. Restart the device.
