Manage Your NAS with Natural Language

Turn what you say into results. Aina, the AI assistant built into QuAgent, makes NAS management simpler than ever.

Aina

Hi, I'm Aina. How can I help?

NAS status, backups, storage space: just ask!

Move last month's reports to Archive, and confirm whether yesterday's backup succeeded.

I have completed your request:

  1. Moved 12 files to /Public/Archive.
  2. The HBS backup job Nightly-Offsite finished at 2026-07-05 02:14:07.
Ask Aina about your NAS…

Say Goodbye to Everyday NAS Hassles

QuAgent solves all of this at once, saving time and reducing manual work so that managing your NAS becomes easier and more efficient.

Digging through thousands of system logs to track one issue?

Unsure how much NAS space is left, or which drive is about to fail?

Want to confirm last night's backup, but have no time to open every job?

What Is QuAgent?

QuAgent is a conversational AI agent that runs on your QNAP NAS. It packages the applications on your NAS (File Station, QuMagie, HBS, Qsirch, QuLog, and system and security tools) into contextual capabilities, so the AI does more than answer questions: it understands your intent, carries out the operation and reports the result.

Why QuAgent Changes the Way You Use a NAS

Managing a NAS used to mean clicking through layers of the web interface or turning to the command line, a barrier for non-technical users. With QuAgent, you simply say what you need.

  • Natural Language Operation

No commands to memorize and no menus to dig through. Just say what you want to achieve.

  • Scenario-Based Tool Capabilities

Connects core NAS applications and turns multi-step work across apps into a single sentence.

  • Scheduling and Automation

Upgrade a one-time task into a recurring job, with status and errors available for review.

  • Permissions and Security Governance

Permissions follow each user's identity, conversations stay isolated, and every operation is auditable.

Chat to Get It Done,
NAS Management Has Never Been Easier

Routine work that once required switching between applications and opening a dozen layers of settings now ends in a single conversation, and you can hand it to a schedule that runs every day.

Your Data, Your Choice of Where It Goes

The model supply for QuAgent is managed centrally by AI Service Center. You can load an on-premises model that runs on the NAS itself, keeping data on the machine at all times, or switch to a cloud model for stronger reasoning, and change between them at any time in the conversation interface.

  • On-Premises Inference, Zero Exposure

With an on-premises model, all inference completes on the NAS and file content is never sent to any external service.

  • Permissions Follow Identity

Every tool call carries that user's permissions. Data they cannot see is data the AI cannot reach.

  • High-Risk Actions Confirmed First

Irreversible actions such as deleting files or changing settings always ask you to confirm or cancel before they run.

  • Auditable Operation Records

User, tool, time and result are recorded throughout, so every run can be traced afterwards.

Real-World Scenarios

1

IT Administrator

Tom checks storage status every day. Now one question is enough: Aina compiles the usage of each storage pool along with a drive health summary, with no dashboard to dig through.

2

Security Officer

Mei needs to watch for suspicious logins. Instead of combing through logs by hand, she asks a question and gets a filtered summary, leaving her time for the threats that truly matter.

3

SMB Manager

Angela has a full calendar. She hands the daily routine checks to a schedule, and each morning the conversation already shows last night's backup and system status.

QuAgent conversation showing storage pool usage and a hard drive health summary

"Is there still enough NAS storage space? Also, please list the hard drive health status."

QuAgent conversation checking recent failed logins and listing login source IP addresses

"Who failed to log in recently, and what were the source IP addresses?"

QuAgent conversation creating a weekly Monday 9 AM schedule to check failed login records

"From now on, confirm the backup result for me at 9 every morning."

System Requirements

You can install and enable QuAgent from App Center on your QNAP device, or download it from the App Center page on the QNAP website and then install it on your QNAP device.

Supported Operating Systems QuTS hero h6.1 or later; QTS 6.1 or later
Required Applications AI Service Center (model supply and management); each scenario requires its corresponding application, such as HBS, QuMagie or QuLog Center
Model Supply Choose a cloud model (no GPU required on the NAS), or run an on-premises model locally (a compatible GPU is recommended for smooth responses)
Supported Models • x86-based NAS (x74 Series & Above): e.g., TS-x74 series, TVS-h874, etc.
• TVS-AI Series: e.g., TVS-AIh1688ATX
• QAI Edge AI Storage Server Series: e.g., QAI-h1290FX, QAI-16700, etc.

FAQ

It depends on the model you choose. With an on-premises model, inference completes on the NAS and data never leaves the machine. With a cloud model, only the content required for that conversation is sent to the model service you configured yourself. Model settings and switching are controlled by the administrator in AI Service Center.

No. QuAgent can only act within the permissions that the user already has, and high-risk operations such as deleting files or changing settings always prompt for confirmation before they run, so you decide whether to confirm or cancel. Every action performed is recorded for auditing.

Not necessarily. If you use a cloud model, no GPU is required on the NAS. To run an on-premises model locally, a compatible GPU is recommended for responsive performance. The list of available on-premises models and their resource requirements is shown in AI Service Center.
