The capacity of my RAID is 16TB. Why do I get an error message when trying to expand the RAID by adding new drives?

Answer:

If your storage pools/volumes were created using firmware 4.0.3 (or older) the maximum size of a RAID group is 16TB. To exceed this limit you will need to back up your data, upgrade the NAS firmware, delete the existing storage pools/volumes, and then create new storage pools/volumes.
