Why can’t my volume expand over 63.99TB of storage space?

If you run into the issue of not being able to expand the storage space over 63.99TB even though the capacity of your drives should allow for this, it may be a limitation of the filesystem setting of your volume.
This solution requires you to backup your data and recreate your volume(s) with the correct filesystem setting.
Let’s see how to do this once you have safely backed up all your important data.

Log in to your NAS via a web browser

Open Storage Manager and navigate to “Storage Space” > “Create” > “New Volume”

Here you can select three different options: Static Single Volume, Thick Multiple Volume and Thin Multiple Volume. If you are not familiar with these terms, we recommend reading this support article.

Once you have configured the settings for the new volume, enable the “File system option” and select a “Bytes per inodes” value according to the table below. In our example this would be at least 32768 so we can have our storage expanded over 63.99TB.

Your new volume will now be ready to support more storage space.
