How to remotely access QVR Server via myQNAPcloud Link in QVR Pro Client
Applicable Products
QVR Pro Client 2.6.0 or later versions
Explanation
QVR Pro Client 2.6.0 and later supports remote access to QVR Server through myQNAPcloud Link. This allows you to view surveillance footage from any location without configuring VPN or port forwarding. Connection is authenticated through your QNAP ID.
Benefits of using myQNAPcloud Link for QVR Pro Client
Setting up remote access for your surveillance system used to require advanced IT knowledge. By using the myQNAPcloud Link service integrated into QVR Pro Client (v2.6.0+), you gain three major benefits:
- No network configuration required: myQNAPcloud Link eliminates the need for static IP, DDNS, or port forwarding setup.
- Cross-network connectivity: QVR Pro Client and QVR Server can be on different network segments. myQNAPcloud Link handles NAT traversal automatically.
- Encrypted connection: Traffic between QVR Pro Client and QVR Server is routed through myQNAPcloud Link with encryption.
Prerequisites for Remote Connection
Before you begin, ensure your system meets the following requirements:
- Client Software: QVR Pro Client version 2.6.0 or a newer release installed on your computer. (Note: 2.5.x and earlier versions do not support this feature.)
- Server Setup: The myQNAPcloud Link app must be installed, enabled, and showing a normal network status on your QNAP NAS.
- Account Access: A valid QNAP ID linked to your NAS with the necessary access permissions for QVR Server.
Procedure
Connecting to QVR Server Remotely
Follow these simple steps to establish your remote connection:
- Verify your NAS Cloud Status: Log in to your QNAP NAS operating system (QTS/QuTS hero) locally. Open the myQNAPcloud app and ensure the "myQNAPcloud Link" service is active.
- Launch QVR Pro Client: Open the QVR Pro Client software on your laptop.
- Add a New Server: On the main login screen, click the option to add a new server connection.
- Sign In with QNAP ID: Instead of entering an IP address, select the option to sign in using your QNAP ID and enter your account credentials.
- Select and Connect: Once authenticated, the client will automatically fetch a list of your linked NAS devices. Select your target QVR Server and click Connect.
You are now successfully connected to your QVR Server remotely. You can monitor your security cameras, view live feeds, and manage your surveillance system as if you were on the local network.
