Background

She has over 25 years of professional experience helping thousands of people to improve their lifestyle through food. In addition, Mónica is the number one nutritionist in Spain on YouTube thanks to the informative content she provides on her channel, Simple Blending. Mónica advises on nutrition and healthy eating, offering important information on how to change eating habits and the best way to learn to eat healthily.

Challenges

In the last few years alone, Simple Blending has been using over 20 portable 4 TB and 5 TB external hard drives, manually synchronizing all of them in the cloud.

Before working with the QNAP NAS TVS-h874 server, the QSW-M1208-8C-EU switch and the QXG-10G1TB, the main challenge for Simple Blending was to secure its content, allow fast access to its data centralized in one place, and identify the portable hard drives which contained specific content. They also had the challenge of reducing synchronization times for all cloud-based content to ensure greater security against any possible data loss.

Solution

The solution they chose to manage all their nutrition and dietetics content was the 8-bay QNAP TVS-h874 NAS with 3.5-inch 10 TB internal Seagate IronWolf Pro ST10000NT001 hard drives, as well as the QNAP QSW-M1208-8C-EU switch and the QXG-10G1TB network card.

They chose the TVS-h874 to be able to centralize all content in one place to free up much of the storage on portable external hard drives. This also allowed them to have an extra layer of security through the RAID configurations provided by this NAS, and to be able to remotely connect to the content for management and processing purposes through the QNAP QSW-M1208-8C-EU switch and the QXG-10G1TB network card.

Although Mónica offers in-person consultations, all her audiovisual media work is done from her home office and that is where the TVS-h874 is located. This NAS is connected via the QXG-10G1TB network card installed in the NAS to an internal 10GbE network with a Cat 7 cable through the QNAP QSW-M1208-8C-EU switch. The ease of setting up the different configurations has offered her a high level of security and easy access to all the content she manages using the NAS. At the end of content production sessions, they download all the content to the NAS to ensure its security and allow subsequent access for content editing.

Results

Using File Station allows them to manage and access all content instantly from a web browser. It also provides access to all their files from any device, including computers and mobile devices, enabling seamless remote and on-site access. They also value how easy it is to manage the QNAP NAS using the QuTS hero operating system, which has helped them to configure and manage the NAS on a daily basis.

One of the long-term challenges for Simple Blending is ensuring the storage, access, and security for the large volume of content they generate.
