Getting started with Qsirch PC Edition

You can download Qsirch PC Edition from the QNAP Utilities page on the QNAP website.

Qsirch PC Edition is available for Windows 10 (version 2004 and later). At least 8 GB is recommended for optimal performance.

Yes. You can access and search for files stored on multiple NAS and PC. You can add your NAS as a new search source in the “Manage Search Source” panel by opening it in the top left corner.

No. You can use Qsirch PC Edition to independently search for files on your PC. However, when used with a NAS, Qsirch PC Edition allows you to centralize your file searching by consolidating your PC and NAS file searches.

For Qsirch PC Edition to search for files on a NAS, the NAS must have Qsirch 5.2.0 (or later) installed.

You do not need a license to use Qsirch PC Edition to search for files on one NAS. A license is required to search for files on your PC or on multiple NAS. Licenses can be purchased from the QNAP software store.
After purchasing a license, you can apply it in Qsirch PC Edition. Each license can only be applied to one PC at a time. You can deactivate the license on one PC and apply it to another PC.

Qsirch PC Edition indexes all your files to provide fast and accurate search results. Initial file indexing may take a long time (based on the number of files on your device). Once the initial file indexing is complete, all future file indexing will be performed incrementally (new/modified files are indexed in real time).

Folders/files can be excluded from file searches from the “more” menu ( ) in the top right corner.

Qsirch PC Edition provides several ways to file files:

1. Full-text search: After files are indexed, Qsirch PC Edition can search through their content and find specified keywords/text within them.
2. Image AI search: Powered by AI, Qsirch PC Edition can recognize objects within images. You can specify the object to find or use the object filter.
3. Image color search: Qsirch PC Edition recognizes colors in images and can filter search results based on selected colors.
4. Filter by metadata: Qsirch PC Edition extracts file metadata, allowing you to filter search results based on these values.

Your folder/file structure does not impact Qsirch PC Edition search results, as your folder structure will be flattened during the indexing process. However, you can open the folders of your search results in File Explorer.

Qsirch PC Edition supports searching for files stored in PC and multiple NAS. When switching the search sources from PC to NAS or from NAS to NAS, you don’t need to clear the search criteria. This allows you to quickly perform the same searches on your selected device.

To search for files on your NAS, you must keep the network (LAN or WAN) connected. If disconnected, you will be able to search for files on your PC for up to 48 hours. If Qsirch PC Edition cannot confirm your license status for more than 48 hours, your license will be temporally invalidated until your Internet connection is reestablished.
