Centralize enterprise backup. Prove every restore works.

No new hardware. The QNAP NAS you already own becomes your enterprise backup platform.

Supported platforms

One application protects virtual machines, Windows endpoints, file servers, and databases.

  • Virtual Machines

    VMware by Broadcom
    Microsoft Hyper-V
    Proxmox
  • Endpoints

    Windows PC/Server

  • File Servers

    Nutanix
    NetApp
    QNAP NAS

    SMB/rsync File Server

  • Databases

    Oracle

    Microsoft SQL Server

Ransomware Defense

Even with admin credentials, attackers can't touch your backups

Three built-in defenses keep attackers from changing your backups — or even reaching them.

  • Immutable Backups

Every backup is locked the moment it's written. Until retention expires, no one can modify or delete it — not even an administrator.

Requires the QuTS hero operating system.

  • Object Lock

Off-site copies can be locked too. Until retention expires, not even the cloud copy can be deleted.

  • Airgap+

Outside the backup window, the backup server powers itself off — so there's nothing on the network for an attacker to reach.

Restore & Verification

Restore without the wait — and show auditors the proof

Backup Verification: every backup proven to boot

After each backup completes, it is automatically restored and boot-tested on the backup server — and the whole process is recorded on video as proof that the backup boots.

Instant Restore: services come back in minutes

When every minute counts, boot the backup as a virtual machine directly on the backup server — users reconnect and keep working while you repair the production host.

Backup Copy

Add an off-site copy

Diagram: the local backup server sends a backup copy to an off-site destination — QNAP storage services or an S3-compatible public cloud — where Object Lock can also apply.

Meets the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule

  • 3 copies
  • 2 media types
  • 1 off-site
  • 1 immutable
  • 0 recovery errors

Management Server down? Promote the standby in one click

A failover server mirrors the management settings in real time. If the Management Server fails, an administrator promotes the standby with one click — and scheduled backups at every site keep running.

Skip the dedicated backup appliance

Many enterprise backup products require dedicated hardware, or are licensed per protected server and VM — the more you protect, the more you pay.

  • The traditional approach

    • A dedicated backup appliance — one more machine in the rack to maintain
    • Licensing billed per protected server and VM
  • HDP for Business

    • Installs on the QNAP NAS you already own
    • Shares the hardware you already run for storage and virtualization

Hyper Data Protection (HDP)

QNAP backup applications are now unified under the HDP brand — choose the one that matches the data you need to protect.

  • HDP for Business

Centralized enterprise backup for VMs, Windows, file servers, and databases.

  • HDP for PC/VM

Standalone protection for Windows PCs and VMware/Hyper-V VMs.

  • HDP for SaaS

Backs up Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data.

  • HDP for WordPress

Backs up WordPress sites and their databases.

Frequently asked questions

No. HDP for Business installs on your existing QNAP NAS. ARM-based NAS models are not supported and cannot serve in any role. The Management Server requires an x86_64 NAS with at least a 4-core CPU and 8 GB of RAM; x86_64 models below that spec can still join a site as backup servers. Immutable backups additionally require a backup server running the QuTS hero operating system.

HDP for Business is an enterprise-grade central management platform: it covers more systems and applications and adds Site Management, immutable backups, Airgap+, Backup Verification, and tiered permissions. It can also take over existing HDP for PC/VM backups and bring them under a single console.

Not in the Beta. HDP for Business Beta protects virtual machines, Windows endpoints, file servers, and databases. To back up SaaS data such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, use HDP for SaaS.

Yes — Proxmox VE 8.x–9.x. Within the QNAP backup lineup, only HDP for Business supports Proxmox; HDP for PC/VM does not.

No. Verification runs directly on the backup server, so systems on your production hypervisor are untouched — and the boot test can be recorded on video as proof of recoverability.

In the Beta, a single site supports up to 4 servers, including the Management Server. At general availability, licensing will let you add more managed servers.
