The TS-879U-RP is designed to provide IP SAN/NAS unified storage for large-scale business organizations that demand uncompromising high performance. Featuring a powerful Intel® Core™ i3-3220 Dual Core Processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM (expandable to 32GB), and the capacity to hold up to 8 hard drives, the TS-879U-RP greatly enhances efficiency of CPU-consuming tasks, powering large amount of concurrent tasks, and meeting the stringent requirements of data-hungry applications.
 
Flexible 10GbE network expansion
The 10GbE-ready TS-879U-RP includes 2 in-built Gigabit Ethernet ports, which can be expanded with additional 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, or 2 10Gigabit Ethernet ports and delivers excellence performance with 1,000 MB/s throughput and 100,000 IOPS, improving the efficiency of virtualization applications via both NFS and iSCSI protocols. Coupled with the support for large storage capacity, the TS-879U-RP is a perfect choice for applications demanding high storage space and transmission speed such as data centers storing big data and for studios editing 4K/HD videos on-the-fly without transferring the videos between the TS-879U-RP and desktop computers

Qsirch – A smarter, faster way to search

Quickly and easily find documents, photos, videos, and music with Qsirch, QNAP’s new built-in NAS search application lets you find what you need by real-time, natural search. Simply type in as much as you know about what you are trying to find, including bits of the file name or even words/phrases in the document, and Qsirch will display a list of matches, complete with thumbnails, as you type. Qsirch even remembers your search history so you can quickly navigate to files you’ve previously searched for. Qsirch is a huge productivity boost – it greatly reduces the amount of time spent looking for files on the NAS so you can focus on other tasks.

The TS-879U-RP is VMware® Ready™, Citrix® Ready™, compatible with Microsoft® Hyper-V™ certification and Windows Server 2012, and supports advanced functions including SPC-3, MPIO and MC/S, enabling flexible deployment and management for virtualization needs. The TS-879U-RP supports VMware VAAI and Microsoft ODX to increase performance by offloading ESXi server loading, and supports QNAP vSphere Client plug-in and QNAP SMI-S provider to provide enhanced operational efficiency in managing virtualization applications.
　
Run multiple OS’ on the TS-879U-RP

The Virtualization Station transforms the TS-879U-RP into a 2-in-a-box NAS that can function as an all-in-one NAS and a virtualization platform supporting multiple operating systems, fast virtual machine creation, virtual machine import/export, snapshot, and enables desktop operations on web browser. With the easy-to-use interface, you can centrally manage all virtual machines created on the TS-879U-RP with least efforts. Furthermore, you can download VMs on demand from the online VM markets and import them to TS-879U-RP to use directly without any complex procedure.

Note: Pre-installed with 4GB RAM x1. You can upgrade the RAM to 16GB to run 4 virtual machines.

High Efficiency with Multiple LAN support
The TS-879U-RP supports multiple port-trunking modes, enabling IT administrators to set up link aggregation to increase total data transmission capability. Failover is also supported to ensure continuous system operations. The supported port-trunking modes include: Balance-rr (Round-Robin), Active Backup, Balance XOR, Broadcast, IEEE 802.3ad, Balance-tlb (Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing) and Balance-alb (Adaptive Load Balancing).

High reliability
The TS-879U-RP supports comprehensive RAID configuration and hot-swapping to allow hard drive replacement without system interruption. QNAP’s advanced RAID recovery technology also helps if any healthy drives are removed from a degraded RAID volume by mistake. The system can be recovered to degraded mode by reinserting the wrongly removed hard drives so the data can still be accessible. The Global Hot Spare function also enables the global hot-spare drive to automatically replace a failed drive in a RAID volume, preventing data from being lost.

Qsync provides multiple ways of file synchronization and group file sharing, greatly enhancing the flexibility of team projects and collaboration.

Well-rounded backup solutions to secure data
QNAP Netbak Replicator supports real-time and scheduled data backup on Windows including Outlook email archiving. Apple Time Machine is also supported to provide Mac OS X users with an effortless solution to back up data to the TS-879U-RP. A wide range of third-party backup software such as Acronis True Image and Symantec Backup Exec are also supported.
 
　
Disaster recovery solutions bring peace of mind
The TS-879U-RP offers various data recovery options. RTRR (Real-Time Remote Replication) supports real time or scheduled data backup to remote Turbo NAS or FTP servers and synchronizes files to remote folders from local folders with better backup efficiency and reduced backup time. The TS-879U-RP also supports rsync protocol to back up data to remote servers on a scheduled basis. Data can also be backed up to and restored from a range of cloud storage services, including Amazon® S3, ElephantDrive®, Dropbox® and Google Cloud Storage.

Easy system setup
The TS-879U-RP provides system installation without using a CD. Simply visit the setup portal start.qnap.com and follow the setup guide to complete the system setup and download the utilities you want. For beginners, the TS-879U-RP features an "Auto Setup" option to provide an easy way to set up the TS-879U-RP with recommended settings. All settings can be flexibly changed at a later time after the installation.

The TS-879U-RP provides numerous security options, such as encrypted access, IP blocking, and other protective features. IT administrators can also control the access rights of each user to different folders, preventing unauthorized access to important files. Supporting SATA 6Gb/s and 3Gb/s hard drives and various 3.5”/2.5” hard drives and SSDs, the TS-879U-RP provides users with high flexibility in selecting hard drives. Meanwhile, the TS-879U-RP allows file sharing and storage on different operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, Linux and UNIX. The simplified system setup process and the friendly-designed graphical user interface enable anyone to easily build up a business private cloud even without IT expertise.
