How to Check the File System?

Last modified date: 2022-03-30

Applied models:

  • All NAS Series

Applied Firmware:

  • 4.4.1 or above

“I received a notification saying that the “File System is not clean” and it is recommended to run a File System Check. How can I do that?”

If the NAS experienced an unexpected shutdown, or other abnormal behavior, the file system of the volume may get some errors.

In those cases, it is recommended to check the File System, in order to fix the eventual errors.

How to check the file system of a volume:

  • Go to Storage & Snapshots > Storage > Storage/Snapshot

  • Select the volume and click on “Manage” to open the volume management window

  • Click on “Actions” > “Check File System”.

Please note that the volume will be unmounted, and therefore not accessible, during the file system check.

It is also possible to schedule a one-time File System Check:

  • Open Storage & Snapshots > Global Settings > Storage

  • Enabled “Scheduled File System Check”.
