How can I reset my NAS?

Procedure
QNAP offers several options to reset your NAS.
Hardware reset
Hardware resets require physical access to the rear of the NAS.
- Locate the button on the rear of your NAS.
- Insert a small sharp object, such as a paper clip or pin, into the reset aperture and press until you can feel a small click.
- Maintain pressure until one of the following reset options occurs:
Option Description Short Press (3 Seconds) You will hear a beep to let you know the reset has been successful.
- Retains all user data
- Restores the following system settings to default:
- Admin Credentials: Resets admin password to default. See here.
- Security level: Sets security level to Low (Allow all connections)
- Service binding: Makes every NAS service available on all network interfaces
- System port: Sets system service port to 8080
- TCP/IP configuration: Sets interfaces to obtain IP address through DHCP
- TCP/IP configuration: Disables Jumbo Frame
- TCP/IP configuration: Disables VLANs
- TCP/IP configuration: If Port Trunking is enabled (Dual LAN models only), sets port trunking mode to Active Backup (Failover).
Long Press (10 Seconds) You will hear two beeps, at three seconds and again at ten seconds, to let you know the reset has been successful.
- Retains all user data
- Deletes all shared folders. To restore them, see here.
- Restores all system settings to default
Software reset
Software resets require access to the QTS web interface using your browser.
- Log in to the NAS with an admin account.
- Go to Control Panel > Backup / Restore > Restore to Factory Default.
- Click one of the following options:
Option Description Restore Factory Defaults & Format All Volumes Restores system settings to default and formats all disk volumes. Reset Settings Restores all system settings to default without deleting the user data. This option is similar to manually pressing the reset button for 10 seconds. Reinitialize NAS Erases all data and reinitializes the NAS. This option requires you to complete the QTS Quick Setup after rebooting.
