How to Download QNAP Software Logs for Troubleshooting

  • QPKG Applications: HBS, Qsirch, Multimedia Console, Virtualization Station, Container Station
  • Utilities: NetBak PC Agent, Qsync Client, External RAID Manager, NetBak Replicator, QuDedup Extract Tool
  • Mobile Apps: Qfile Pro, QuMagie, Qmanager

Background

When QNAP NAS systems or applications encounter issues, collecting logs helps technical support diagnose the root cause. Different systems, applications, and utilities have their own methods for downloading logs.


Procedure

1. System Logs

QTS / QuTS hero

  1. Log in to QTS / QuTS hero as administrator.
  2. Open the Helpdesk application.
  3. Go to Diagnostic Tool > Download Logs.
  4. Click Download to download the system debug log.

QES

  1. Log in to QES as administrator.
  2. Open Diagnostic Tool.
  3. Go to Dump Log.
  4. Click Dump to export the system log.

QSS / QSS Pro

  1. Log in to QSS / QSS Pro as administrator.
  2. Go to System > System Settings > Diagnostics Logs.
  3. Click Download to download the log file.

2. QPKG Application Debug Logs

HBS 3 (Hybrid Backup Sync)

  1. Open the HBS 3 application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Debug report to download the debug log.

Qsirch

  1. Open the Qsirch application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Debug Report to download the debug log.

Multimedia Console

  1. Open the Multimedia Console application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Debug Report to download the debug log.

Hybridmount

  1. Open the Hybridmount application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Download Debug Report to download the debug log.

Virtualization Station

  1. Open the Virtualization Station application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Download Debug Report to download the debug log.

Container Station

  1. Open the Container Station application.
  2. Click the vertical 3-dot icon (⋮) in the upper-right corner .
  3. Select Debug Report to download the debug log.

3. Utilities Debug Logs

NetBak PC Agent

  1. Open the NetBak PC Agent application.
  2. Click the Help menu.
  3. Select Debug Report to download the debug log.

Qsync Client

  1. Locate the Qsync Client icon in the system tray.
  2. Right-click the icon to open the menu.
  3. Click More > Settings.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab.
  5. Check Enable debug log (if detailed logging is needed).
  6. Click the Send Logs button.
  7. Click Save & View to save and download the log file.

External RAID Manager

  1. Open the External RAID Manager application.
  2. Click the LOG icon in the upper right corner of the main page.
  3. Download the log file.

NetBak Replicator

  1. Open the NetBak Replicator application.
  2. Switch to Advanced mode.
  3. Go to Options > Event management.
  4. Click Save to save and export the log.

QuDedup Extract Tool

  1. Open the QuDedup Extract Tool application.
  2. Click the Event Log icon.
  3. Click the Save button to save the log file.

4. Mobile App Debug Logs

Qfile Pro / QuMagie / Qmanager

The debug log collection method is the same for most QNAP mobile apps:

  1. Open the mobile application (Qfile Pro, QuMagie, or Qmanager).
  2. Tap seven times on the version information area.
  3. The system will enable developer mode.
  4. Tap it to enter developer options and turn on the debug mode.

Notes

  • Logs may contain sensitive information. Please handle them securely and only share with QNAP technical support.
  • Before collecting logs, reproduce the issue first to ensure the log contains relevant error messages.
  • Some applications require enabling debug mode before detailed logs are recorded.
