1. Thunderbolt cables are sold separately. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 converters may not be compatible with certain Windows PC models.
2. Mac OS 10.11.5 (and later) enables SMB signing by default, which may impact the connection speed to the NAS. To improve the connection speed, users can disable SMB signing or use Qfinder Pro to connect to the NAS.

The latest Final Cut Pro® X 10.3 adds support for the SMB protocol, allowing you to easily store files in the TVS-882ST3 and share files with Windows®, and other devices using Thunderbolt™, 10GbE or 1GbE connection. While up to 2 Thunderbolt™ devices can connect to the TVS-882ST3 to process real-time video editing simultaneously, the TVS-882ST3 provides an ideal storage solution with unmatched performance to increase productivity in multi-workstation environments.

Thunderbolt™ 3/NAS/iSCSI SAN triple solution

The TVS-882ST3 can simultaneously run general Ethernet services in addition to the Thunderbolt™ 3 network, completely independently and with no bandwidth interference. As an unmatched NAS that combines Thunderbolt™, NAS and iSCSI SAN into one box, the TVS-882ST3 prevents the restriction of DAS connecting to only one device, and breaks the cost barrier for creating 10GbE high-speed network environments.

Thunderbolt™ NAS mode

Simply attach your computer to the TVS-882ST3 with a Thunderbolt™ 3 cable, and you will find the TVS-882ST3 in Finder/File Explorer with accessible shared folders available for you. It is plug-and-use, and completely simple.

Ethernet NAS mode

The TVS-882ST3 also features Ethernet networking for flexible file sharing across multiple devices simultaneously using SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS for sharing across Windows®, Mac® and Linux®/UNIX® networks. Use Qfinder Pro to find the TVS-882ST3 attached to your computer, and you can find the Thunderbolt IP and Ethernet IP for file sharing based on your needs.

iSCSI SAN block-based mode

The TVS-882ST3 supports iSCSI SAN configuration, while the Thunderbolt™ interface can contribute a lot to iSCSI SAN storage performance. After creating an iSCSI target on the TVS-882ST3, you can access the iSCSI with your computer* through Thunderbolt IP.

Dividing resources (Mac+NAS)

Large-sized video production studios often require multiple servers to increase productivity with different workflow stages, such as capturing, editing, production, post-production, and dubbing. In this situation it can be helpful to daisy chain an additional 6 TVS-882ST3 units to the original TVS-882ST3 and arrange each NAS for dedicated workflow stages, while the other Thunderbolt™ 3 port is connected to the workstation for smoothly accessing large-sized video files. Meanwhile, each TVS-882ST3 allows file sharing with multiple devices through 1GbE or 10GbE network.

4K HDMI™ output with a free remote control for an excellent audiovisual experience

The TVS-882ST3 has an HDMI™ port that supports up to 4K @30hz output. By connecting it to a HDTV or A/V receiver and using the free QNAP remote control it can be used as a brilliant media player for entertainment purposes or to directly preview your latest projects. Besides using the bundled remote control, you can also use your mobile devices as remote controls by installing the Qremote app. HD Station supports multi-tasking and user authentication so only authorized users can access the stored data. It also supports Hybrid Backup Sync that consolidates backup, restoration and synchronization functions (using RTRR, rsync, FTP, CIFS/SMB) for easily transferring data to local, remote and cloud storage spaces as a comprehensive data storage and disaster recovery plan.

Virtualization Station allows you to host virtual machines (VM) on the TVS-882ST3 and access them via a web browser or VNC. Simply connect a keyboard, mouse and HDMI™ monitor to the TVS-882ST3, and use Linux Station as if you were using a PC*. Flexible storage expansion

The TVS-882ST3 supports capacity expansion by connecting multiple QNAP expansion enclosures. You can gradually expand the TVS-882ST3's storage on demand, and use the QTS Storage Manager to easily handle the NAS capacity expansion and storage expansion enclosure management.

The maximum number of drives available by connecting QNAP expansion enclosures:
