• Volume and LUN Snapshots

  Support snapshots for both volume and LUN with up to 1024 snapshots in total and 256 per volume or LUN.

• Snapshot Clone

  Quickly clone a volume or LUN snapshot without interrupting the current system operation.

• Backup via RTRR/rsync

  Automatically take a snapshot of the volume before backup via RTRR/rsync, even when the file is opened.

• Snapshot Replica

  Efficiently replicates volume/LUN snapshots to a remote server by copying only the changes made. This can save time & bandwidth, and can be run manually or on a scheduled basis.

• Snapshot Vault

  Centrally stores snapshots from multiple NAS. Remote snapshots can be cloned as a local volume for data access.

• Snapshot Agent Utility

  The Snapshot Agent utility is designed for servers to help create consistent snapshots for Microsoft VSS and VMware vSphere Client.

Windows Previous Versions Support

Snapshots enable Windows users to restore files directly from File Explorer simply by right clicking on files, saving time and effort without requiring help from IT administrators.

Plug in JBOD Enclosures to Migrate Data without Network Connectivity

QTS 4.2 now provides QJBOD Express (JBOD enclosures roaming)* that provides an alternative solution to data migration without network connectivity. Just connect a high-performance QNAP expansion enclosure to a NAS, and the data can be migrated offline easily to another NAS through the JBOD enclosure. Data migration via JBOD enclosures can also be used for replication seeding.

Enhance Performance with SSD Cache

QTS 4.2 supports read-only and read-write cache to improve the overall workflow of IOPS-demanding applications such as virtualization and data center deployment. You can enable the SSD cache with the Storage Manager, and the write cache can be configured in RAID 1 or RAID 10. The Storage Manager also provides an IOPS test to help you estimate SSD/HDD performance and stability.

Simplify Datastore Management with vSphere Web Plug-in

QTS 4.2 supports the vSphere web client, allowing you to easily and centrally control the status of QNAP NAS and datastores. With the web-based vSphere client, you can now directly manage your NAS and VMs using a web browser, making virtualization management simpler and more efficient.

Restore Files to Specific Time-point with Backup Versioning

With backup versioning, multiple versions of files can be backed up to local or remote sites and rolled back to a specific point of time whenever needed. You can choose simple versioning to schedule how many versions should be retained and for how long, or smart versioning with a rotation scheme that automatically replaces earlier backup versions based on your settings to save storage space.
