Airgap+. New
Secure NAS data with air-gapped network isolation for backups

Safeguard business data against ransomware

QNAP’s next-generation Airgap+ feature uses a logically isolated network to achieve efficient, convenient, and secure backups for enterprises and the media and entertainment (M&E) industry.

QNAP NAS supports air gap backup

QuDedup.
Data deduplication technology to save bandwidth and time.

Reduce overall data size with QuDedup

QNAP’s unique QuDedup technology supports block-level data deduplication and encryption at the source to reduce backup data size. By completing backup/recovery jobs quicker and with optimized bandwidth, businesses achieve the best RPO and RTO. When tested with a virtualization solution, QuDedup reduced the backup size by 75%.

Note: Currently, QuDedup only supports QNAP NAS models with x86-based Intel or AMD processors.

Recover files on NAS, computers, and the cloud

After backing up deduped, encrypted or compressed data to a QNAP NAS, remote server or cloud storage, the QuDedup Extract Tool or QENC Decrypter utility allows users to recover and view them on Windows, Ubuntu, or macOS computers.

  • Recover .qdff (QNAP deduplication file format) files

Use QuDedup Extract Tool to preview and restore .qdff files on your computer. Deduped files can also be viewed and opened in File Station.

QuDedup Extract Tool can also be installed on Amazon Windows Workspaces to restore .qdff files.

  • Decrypt and decompress files

Files that are encrypted/compressed using Hybrid Backup Sync can be decrypted/decompressed using QENC Decrypter utility on your computer.

QENC Decrypter can also be installed on Amazon Windows Workspaces to decrypt/decompress files.

Optimized for cloud use

Leverage private and public clouds to create a cost-efficient and agile hybrid cloud architectures.

Back up your NAS to the trusted myQNAPcloud One

myQNAPcloud One is QNAP’s all-in-one cloud storage service. With both file and object storage in one place, it pairs perfectly with QNAP’s backup solutions to make protecting and restoring your data effortless. Even better – all data transfers are free.

  • myQNAPcloud Storage – File-level storage with 16 GB free for every QNAP account.
  • myQNAPcloud Object – S3-compatible, immutable object storage for long-term archiving, large-scale backups, and cloud app integration.

Moreover, major cloud storage services are also supported

TCP BBR for higher transfer speeds

By supporting the TCP BBR algorithm for congestion control, businesses that use hybrid storage can back up or sync their NAS-based files to the cloud with higher transfer speeds.

The TCP BBR feature is available from QTS 4.4.1 (or later) and QuTS hero h4.5.1 (or later)

Relink function when cloud seeding

For first-time large cloud data migration, hardware appliances from cloud service providers can be used to quickly move terabytes of data. Hybrid Backup Sync provides the relink function to establish a link between the on-premises original and the cloud copy, so you can continue incremental backup or synchronization tasks.

Useful backup features and methods

Encrypt files before backup

Encrypt and compress files before backing up or synchronizing them. This effectively prevents unauthorized access and provides an extra layer of protection.

Backup multiple versions

The more versions you back up reduces the risk of data loss. Hybrid Backup Sync supports multi-version backup to cloud storage and remote NAS and allows setting version limits and retention time.

Backup to multiple destinations

When the local NAS starts a backup job, a remote NAS can automatically start secondary backup, sync, or restore jobs. All you need is to set the backup process on each NAS, then multiple NAS can automatically complete all job flows.

Note: The automated cross-NAS backup is available from Hybrid Backup Sync version 14.

Big Data migration

As deduped .qdff files are smaller than original data, it is optimized to migrate Big Data to remote sites. Combined with automated cross-NAS backup jobs, data migration can be streamlined.

Supports Immutable Backup to the WORM Folder New

Easily back up QNAP NAS data to the Immutable WORM folders on QuTS hero NAS. Once the task is completed, folders automatically locked by HBS, preventing unauthorized changes, deletions, and errors, ensuring enterprise-grade protection against ransomware and also long-term data integrity.

What is WORM Folder?

By enabling WORM, written data cannot be overwritten, modified, or deleted. This ensures the integrity and immutability of archived data for a specified period, making it suitable for specific use cases and compliance retention policies.

Immutable Backup

This feature is available for Hybrid Backup Sync v26 or above, and the backup destination must be a QuTS hero NAS with WORM folders set to Manual Lock.

Multi-protocol support for data backup and synchronization

QNAP NAS supports remote backup using RTRR
QNAP NAS supports one-way sync to cloud and remote servers
QNAP NAS supports active sync
QNAP NAS supports two-way sync between cloud and remote NAS
