Intelligent Qtier 2.0, without scheduling

  • Automatic learning

Qtier™ 2.0 analyzes CPU performance and system peak hours to decide the best time for processing auto tiering and the optimum transfer speeds. It continues to learn every day, helping to achieve the utmost storage efficiency.

  • Customized scheduling

You can also manually set auto tiering to be processed during off-peak times to provide adequate system resources for running applications.

Maximized network accessibility made by Network & Virtual Switch Maximized network accessibility made by Network & Virtual Switch

Network & Virtual Switch integrates the management of IPv4, IPv6, Wi-Fi, Thunderbolt™, USB QuickAccess and WirelessAP in conjunction with virtual switches. It centralizes creating, configuring, and managing network connections, allowing you to connect your computers and devices to both local and remote networks with greater flexibility.

Maximize network accessibility at no extra cost

Network & Virtual Switch makes the most of available network resources. For example, you can connect 1GbE devices to your QNAP NAS to attain a 10GbE working environment for data transmission without buying an expensive 1/10Gb Ethernet switch. Network usage becomes easier, more flexible, and lighter on the budget.

Connections between VMs and containers

One of the significant enhancements for Network & Virtual Switch is the support for data transfer between VMs and containers. In addition to NAS and virtual machines sharing the same LAN port, data transfer between virtual machines and containers through the same interface is now possible. For example, an Apache web server on a virtual machine can access a MySQL database on a container, and then provide services to Client PCs through a physical network.

Thunderbolt to Ethernet (T2E) Converter

As Apple computers do not natively support 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Mac users previously needed to purchase a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter to connect to high-speed Ethernet networks. The innovative T2E Converter bridges Thunderbolt™ and Ethernet networks, allowing Apple computers to directly connect to a QNAP Thunderbolt™ NAS using a Thunderbolt™ connection to achieve high-speed data transmission between Thunderbolt™ and 10GbE. It saves a 10GbE port and eliminates the need for a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter.

Thunderbolt Residential Gateway (NAT)

In addition, the Thunderbolt virtual switch NAT service can be enabled to allow Thunderbolt devices to connect to all physical adapters via QNAP Thunderbolt NAS. Business organizations and individual users can easily leverage all available network resources for different tasks and effortlessly manage network connections.

Note: Hosts behind NAT-enabled Virtual Switches do not have end-to-end connectivity and cannot participate in some internet protocols.
