Important Notes

Note: The supported operating systems listed above indicate compatibility at the Virtualization Station software level. Whether a guest OS can actually be installed or upgraded also depends on your NAS hardware — particularly the CPU model — meeting that OS's system requirements. Please refer to the official system requirements of each operating system before installation.

Windows 11 example:Starting with Windows 11 version 24H2, Microsoft enforces stricter CPU compatibility requirements. Not all QNAP NAS CPU models are on Microsoft's supported list. Please verify your NAS CPU before installing or upgrading:
  • The actual performance of virtual machines depends on your NAS hardware specifications, including CPU, RAM, and storage.
  • Some operating systems may require additional drivers or configurations for optimal performance.
  • For Windows VMs, installing QNAP Guest Tools is recommended to enhance performance and enable additional features.
  • Ensure your NAS has sufficient resources before deploying multiple virtual machines.
  • Operating systems not listed above may still work but are not officially supported.
