Challenges

Before adopting QNAP, Yingjiang Times faced serious storage pain points: footage was scattered across multiple workstations and portable hard drives, making searches extremely time-consuming; passing footage around by copying to portable drives dragged down collaboration; and the lack of permission controls made accidental changes and data leaks all too likely. On top of that, data loss from drive failures, accidental deletion, and ransomware threats meant the safety of core footage simply could not be guaranteed.

Solution

The solution is deeply integrated into file sharing, data backup, and remote access, fully supporting the editing team's needs for centralized 4K/8K footage management and real-time collaboration.

Result

QNAP NAS has thoroughly reshaped Yingjiang Times' post-production workflow. Footage search time has been cut by more than 60%, multiple editors can now work on 4K footage directly on the NAS without repeated copying, and daily productivity has increased by about 30%.

With RAID and snapshots, footage loss caused by hardware failure or accidental deletion has been eliminated, greatly reducing rework and recovery costs. Meanwhile, centralized storage and permission control have reduced wear and tear on portable drives, cutting overall maintenance and storage costs by around 20%.
