Why does Smart Snapshot take scheduled snapshots even when there seems to be no change in data on the volume/LUN?
When Smart Snapshot is enabled, the system will take a scheduled snapshot only if data has been read, written, or modified on the volume or LUN since the last snapshot was taken. During this time, data may occasionally be accessed in the background by the system and its applications, so you might not notice if something has been configured or logged. Even if you haven’t directly accessed or modified the data, Smart Snapshot will take a snapshot anyway because the data blocks have still been read, written, or modified.
