Data Safety

Dual-NAS High Availability (HA)
With High Availability Manager, two NAS form an Active-Passive HA cluster where one instantly takes over if the other fails. h6.0 expands supported models and applications, with over 90%* of services now HA-ready.

- Supports JBOD expansion for flexible capacity scaling.
HA for real-time SnapSync, Q’center, third-party apps, and VJBOD are not supported in QuTS hero h6.0.
Immutable Snapshots
Now available on all QuTS hero NAS models, Immutable Snapshots lock files from modification or deletion during a set protection period. This ensures that everyone can preserve data integrity and recover quickly—even from ransomware attacks.

KMIP Key Management
QNAP NAS can act as a KMIP client, which integrates with centralized key management servers of Key Management Service (KMS) for unified encryption key management. Keys are stored remotely and applied automatically, reducing risks and ensuring enterprise-grade security.

System Security
QuTS hero h6.0 strengthens system protection from log-in to boot-up, reducing risks and ensuring continuous services.
FIDO2
QuTS hero h6.0 supports FIDO2 passkeys (such as USB keys) for secure, phishing-resistant, and password-free logins—making access safer and management simpler.
Secure IP Access
Secure IP Access is a new QuFirewall feature which provides granular IP-level access controls to reduce network exposure.
- Combines multi-factor authentication, including user identity verification, device recognition, and NAS account credentials.
- Built-in auto-revocation with configurable access time limits to minimize risks from lost devices or compromised accounts.
Secure Boot
With hardware-level Secure Boot technology, the NAS verifies firmware signatures and system integrity during startup, preventing unauthorized or malicious code from loading and ensuring every boot begins from a trusted, uncompromised state.
Currently supported only on the TVS-AIh1688ATX, with more new NAS models to be added in the future.
Ransomware Guard
Protect your QNAP NAS from ransomware with Ransomware Guard, a new layer of defense in Malware Remover.

Designed for modern HDD + SSD hybrid architectures, Qtier hero delivers flexible and controllable tiering, enabling data to be placed on the optimal storage tier based on access patterns:
- Hot Data → Hot Tier: Ultra-fast access for AI, virtualization, and database workloads
- Warm Data → Warm Tier: Balanced performance and capacity
- Cold Data → Cold Tier: Cost-efficient storage for long-term data retention
With precise tiering control, you can ** maximize storage performance and efficiency without increasing overall cost.
FileTiers Coming soon
FileTiers intelligently tiers data across QNAP NAS devices based on access patterns or custom policies. It reclaims premium SSD space while keeping files seamlessly accessible in their original folders. Frequently accessed "hot data" delivers peak performance locally, while less-active data is tiered to high-capacity nodes with zero workflow disruption. Furthermore, FileTiers seamlessly integrates within an HA cluster to ensure data remains protected and available during failover.
Kernel Mode SMB Daemon with Encryption
The Kernel Mode SMB Daemon leverages QNAP’s innovative technology to deliver high-performance CPU kernel-mode acceleration. SMB encryption is now supported for secure and efficient file transfers.

QNAP ID SSO
Single sign-on with your QNAP ID streamlines access across QNAP NAS and other QNAP web services, reducing login errors and admin overhead.
Fibre Channel NPIV
Supports N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV), enabling multiple virtual WWPNs on a single FC port for better resource allocation and multi-tenant isolation.
ACL 2.0 (Advanced Access Control)
With ACL 2.0, managing large folders has never been easier.
- Permission capacity: Increases maximum entries from 124 to 1024, giving admins greater flexibility.
- Permission application: dramatically faster than ACL 1.0.
- Memory usage: drastically reduced for more efficient operation.
- Large-scale operations: handles massive folders without delays.
ACL is applied on a per-shared folder basis. Users can choose which ACL version to use for each folder, but once ACL 2.0 is enabled, it cannot be reverted to ACL 1.0.
AMIZcloud
Monitor and manage multiple NAS faster and more insightful with AMIZcloud centralized cloud management:
