Why do the creation dates of my File Station folders change when I modify files via SMB?

Scenario

When you modify files or folders via SMB, the file creation date changes accordingly.

Explanation

The "Date created" timestamp you see is actually a reflection of the modification date. File Station itself doesn't record or display creation dates for files and folders. Therefore, when accessing files via SMB from another operating system, the modification date is used as a substitute for the missing creation date. Modifying a file via SMB updates the modification date, which is then reflected in both the "Date created" and "Date modified" timestamps. This explains why both timestamps appear to be the same (see below). This is a current limitation of File Station that we are working to address.
