Do I need to install Hybrid Backup Sync to use Time Machine Backup?

Since Apple introduces Time Machine backup over SMB in macOS Sierra, QNAP NAS can natively support Time Machine Backup without installing an additional app.

However, if one of the following criteria is met, you still need to install Hybrid Backup Sync to use Time Machine Backup

Your Mac runs OS X El Capitan or older versions.
The latest QTS version of your NAS is 4.3.3 or older versions.
