Can I change the location of my disks after setting up an HA cluster?

Last modified date: 2025-06-20

Applicable Products

  • QuTS hero h5.3.0 or later
  • High Availability Manager

Answer

Do not change the physical locations of your disks after creating a high-availability (HA) cluster.

Moving your installed disks into different slots may disrupt the connection between the two NAS devices and cause the cluster to malfunction.

Note
  • You can still safely move disks that are not part of any storage pool without needing to remove the HA cluster.
  • To prevent data loss, always back up important data before performing any operations involving disks.
  • If you move any disks, always make sure the corresponding disks on both devices are moved to matching disk slots.
