Applicable Products:

- QVP series NVR
The environment in which the problem may occur:
- Your Windows computer
- Your Mac computer
- Your tablet
- Your mobile phone
Some built-in media players (for example, Windows Media Player or QuickTime Player) cannot play MP4 videos, as these players do not support some MP4 decoders.
Therefore, you may encounter problems such as you cannot play MP4, there is no sound when playing MP4, or the audio is out of sync with the video.
Troubleshooting
Situation 1: You are unable to play surveillance video files
- Check which player you’re using.
- Make sure the surveillance video file is obtained from a valid path and the attached file name is .mp4.
- Download and use the VLC media player (official website: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play your video files.
Situation 2: You encounter video lags during playback
Try replacing other hardware or use a better hardware environment.
Situation 3: There is video but no sound during playback
- Confirm in QVR Pro Client whether there is sound in the recorded video segment. It is possible that no sound was recorded at that time.
- If the recorded video segment does have sound, download and use the VLC media player (official website: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play your video files.
If the above methods still cannot solve your problem of playing monitoring files, fill out the online support form through the QNAP Service Portal, and our customer service staff will assist you as soon as possible.
