Important Notes

• To ensure data security, system stability, and storage performance, the maximum number of drives for a single RAID group is now 16 (applicable to RAID 5, RAID 6, and subgroups of RAID 50 and RAID 60). Nevertheless, users can combine multiple RAID groups into a large storage pool that contains more than 16 drives, using RAID 50, RAID 60, or RAID 10 as the RAID configuration. This enhancement will only be applied to new RAID groups. All existing RAID groups and storage systems will not be affected.

Enhancement

• QTS now has a new design for distributing firmware update information, applicable to all NAS models running QTS 5.0.0.1986 and later versions.

Fixed Issues

• Updated the firmware for the ASM 116X chipset used on certain NAS models.
• NAS time settings would change from auto synchronization to manual configuration after users enabled "Additional Domain Controller" or "Read-only Domain Controller" in Control Panel > Privilege > Domain Controller.
• QTS would use an unexpected Japanese font when users selected Japanese as the browser language and then selected "Auto Detect" in QTS language settings.
• On certain ARM-based models, non-administrator users could not access subfolders in the @Recently-Snapshot folder when advanced shared folder permission settings were enabled.
• In iSCSI & Fibre Channel, VLANs in "Network Portal" would become disabled after users updated QTS to 5.0.0.
• After users enabled Read-only Domain Controller, QTS would display unexpected error messages when users restarted SMB services.
• QTS could not correctly display encrypted shared folders when the remaining storage space was insufficient.
• The TVS-873 could not connect to the TR-004 expansion enclosure after users updated QTS to 5.0.0.1828.
• Some SNMP OIDs (object identifiers) would display incorrect values.
• Users could not create a self-encrypting drive (SED) storage pool on SSDs.
• Creating a local user and a domain user with the same username would cause unexpected results in SMB folder permissions.
• Control Panel would automatically grant the read/write permissions of an external drive to random users after a NAS restart.
• Certain NAS models could not display a connected USB external drive.
• In iSCSI & Fibre Channel, virtual switches in "Network Portal" would be shown as disconnected after users updated QTS to 5.0.0.
• Users could not successfully restore an LDAP database in QTS 5.0.0.1932.
• A camera connected to a NAS shared folder via SMB could not display the correct quota size after users updated QTS to 5.0.0.
• Users could not migrate iSCSI LUNs from one NAS to another NAS via VMware ESXi after updating QTS to 5.0.0.1858.
• QTS could not send a password change URL via email when users entered their usernames without case sensitivity.
• The TS-231K and TS-431K could not detect USB devices connected to the front USB ports.
• Subfolders created in QTS 4.5.4 could not inherit folder permissions that were granted to their parent folders in QTS 5.0.0.
• After users joined the NAS to an Active Directory domain and enabled "Automatically register in DNS" in Control Panel, QTS would only register the IP address of the last network interface to the AD DNS server.
• The LAN-10G2SF-MLX network expansion card could not function normally after users updated QTS to 5.0.0.
• The TS-863U could not correctly display the system temperature and fan speeds.
• Domain users could not access files in shared folders due to unexpected changes in access permissions after a NAS restart.
• In Windows, users could not open a previous version of a file located in the NAS home folder.
• QuLog Center would display unexpected syslog entries for the local host.
• The system default gateway would disappear and could not connect to the Internet after users connected a 100 Mbps Ethernet cable and then restarted the NAS.
• Users could not configure the MAC address of the primary Ethernet port via an SSH command.
• Network & Virtual Switch could not correctly display IPv6 DNS information.
• QTS occasionally could not update virus definitions if users chose to check for virus definition updates every day.

Known Issues

• Some applications cannot access the NAS when secure connection and TLS 1.3 are enabled. This is due to a known issue in the applications. We will fix this issue in upcoming app releases.
• macOS Finder takes a long time to display content in SMB shared folders when users connect the Mac to the NAS via Thunderbolt. This problem may be due to Mac device driver issues. It only occurs to Mac devices with Intel processors and macOS 11 (or later versions).
• Thunderbolt write speeds are lower than expected in QTS 5.0.0. Note: Due to Thunderbolt driver compatibility issues, if you are using macOS 11/12 devices with Intel processors, we do not recommend updating QTS to 5.0.0 for the time being.
• QTS and QuTS hero with newer kernel versions do not support ATTO Fibre Channel adapters. If you have already installed an ATTO Fibre Channel adapter on your device, we do not recommend updating the firmware to QTS 5.0.0 or QuTS hero h5.0.0 for the time being.
• Control Panel cannot display the information of the TPU installed in the M.2 slot on the QGD-1602P.
• After users rename a shared folder, QuLog Center still displays the original folder name in Accessed Resources.

Other Changes

SSD Profiling Tool

• QTS no longer pre-installs SSD Profiling Tool by default. Users can install this tool in the App Center.

Control Panel

• Replaced SQL Server with MariaDB 5/MariaDB 10, which can be installed in the App Center.
• Removed iSCSI Service from Service Binding in Control Panel. Users can now configure iSCSI service binding settings in iSCSI & Fibre Channel.

Qboost

• Qboost is no longer a built-in application of QTS. Users can choose to install Qboost in App Center.

App Center

• To ensure system security, QTS now automatically disables applications that are not updated and that do not meet the minimum version requirements.
• Removed support for the following applications, utilities, or services:
  • WebERP
  • GLPI
  • Vtiger CRM
  • Ragic Cloud DB

QVR Pro Client & QVR Smart Client

• Starting from QTS 5.0.0, HybridDesk Station no longer supports QVR Pro Client (HDMI output). You can install QVR Smart Client on HybridDesk Station as the client software for your QVR Pro, QVR Elite, or QVP surveillance servers. Note that QVR AI Pack License is required for using QVR Smart Client. You can continue using QVR Pro Client on Windows or macOS as the client software for your surveillance servers to watch live views or play back recordings.

NVR Storage Expansion

• Starting from QTS 5.0.0, NVR Storage Expansion is no longer supported.
