Off The Path

Off The Path accommodate all of their photos and videos on TVS-672XT, a secure and centralized private storage.

  • Background

    Created and maintained by Sebastian and Line, Off The Path is one of the largest and most beloved adventure blogs in Germany. Their wonderful travel stories and advice with photos and videos have captured priceless moments all over the world and grabbed other travelers’ hearts in the process.

  • Challenge

    Off The Path previously used a staggering twelve USB hard drives to store all of their photos, videos and audio files. Losing data was very common – and led to a direct impact on their business opportunities. Off The Path discovered that some data was lost after their clients offered to buy its content, and then realized that a trustworthy data storage solution was required.

Solution

As Sebastian and Line use an iMac for media editing, they chose the TVS-672XT NAS which features two Thunderbolt™ 3 ports and two 10GbE ports. They installed four 16TB HDDs and configured RAID 5 to protect their data from drive failure.

Result

To provided added protection against data loss, Off The Path uses Hybrid Backup Sync (a free QNAP NAS app for backup/sync to cloud storage) to automatically back up data to Backblaze. Sebastian and Line also can connect their iMac to the TVS-672XT using Thunderbolt 3 for high-speed data transfer, allowing them to improve their work efficiency. By centralizing their storage with the TVS-672XT, they can remotely access their data at any time using their computers or phones (by using desktop utilities and mobile companion apps). The all-in-one solution provided by the TVS-672XT increases their comfort level at work and provides peace of minds. Last but not least, related expenses have also been reduced by hundreds of Euros a year.
