How do I access the files stored on my NAS at home when I’m outside?
Applicable Products:
- myQNAPcloud
You can access your NAS through the following methods:
-
Using Port Forwarding (Direct connection)
In most cases, Port Forwarding could be set up by enabling Auto Router Configuration in the myQNAPcloud app. However If UPNP Port Forwarding is not available, configuring port forwarding manually on the router is required, the setting is usually called Port Forwarding or Virtual Server under Advanced Settings on the router configuration page and you may need the information of the network ports that NAS uses.
Note: About manually port forwarding, recommend contacting the Router manufacturer for further assitance if you meet problems, the question is like How do I access a HTTP/HTTPS server which uses port 8080/443 behind the router.
After setting up port forwarding, if Web Connectivity screen in myQnapCloud show errors, you may need to use Open Port Check Tool to do further troubleshooting.
-
Using myQNAPcloud link (Indirect connection )
Although Web Connectivity screen in myQnapCloud show errors, the NAS is still accessible under myQnapCloud Link connection with the proper configuration.
