Details

Virtualization Station's USB 3.2 Gen 1 passthrough functionality is dependent upon the guest operating system. USB 3.2 Gen 1 passthrough enables direct connection of USB devices to virtual machines, providing high-speed data transfer (up to 5 Gbps). For the device to function within the virtual machine in scenarios where USB 3.2 Gen 1 passthrough isn't supported by the guest operating system, connecting it to a USB 2.0 port on the host machine is necessary. While this ensures device recognition within the virtual machine, transfer speeds will be limited by USB 2.0 capabilities.

Guest Operating System Compatibility for USB 3.2 Gen 1 Passthrough in Virtualization Environments

The following guest operating systems support USB 3.2 Gen 1 passthrough in virtualization environments:

  • Microsoft Windows 8.0 and later versions
  • General Linux with kernel versions 3.4.6 and later
  • CentOS 7 and later versions
  • Fedora 16 and later versions
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 and later versions
  • Ubuntu 14.04 and later versions
