QuTScloud c4.5.3.1454 build 20201013

2020-10-15

Important Notes

  • QuTScloud is a virtual operating system designed to run on cloud computing platforms and in virtual environments. You cannot install or run QuTScloud on a computer.
  • Before deploying QuTScloud, you must purchase a QuTScloud license from the QNAP Software Store and activate the license in QNAP License Manager. The license controls the maximum number of CPU cores usable by QuTScloud.
  • QuTScloud requires a connection to the QNAP License Server. QuTScloud automatically disables itself if it can not contact the license server for more than one day.
  • You can attach virtual disks to QuTScloud by using the virtual machine management software on the host platform. On some platforms, you may need to shut down the QuTScloud virtual machine before adding virtual disks.
  • You may need to specify a guest operating system type when configuring some VM platforms. Select Linux Ubuntu 64-bit or a similar option to enable the required virtual hardware emulation support for QuTScloud.
  • After deploying QuTScloud, use the Live Update tool in the Control Panel to perform updates. You do not need to redeploy QuTScloud when updating.

New Features

  • Included Open VM Tools, Hyper-V Linux Integration Services, and Qemu-guest-agent. QuTScloud automatically starts different required services depending on the host hypervisor platform. You must still configure the corresponding options in your hypervisor service before it can communicate with the agent services running inside QuTScloud.
  • Added support for additional cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud, HUAWEI CLOUD
  • Added support for additional VPS platforms: Contabo
  • Added support for Cloud HAL Agent application (qpkg).
  • Cloud HAL Agent allows QuTScloud to obtain additional hardware information in the Storage Manager when running on the following cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Alicloud, and Digital Ocean.
  • Added MTU 1400 configuration settings in Network and Virtual Switch to increase compatibility with Google Cloud.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue that caused Storage Manager to incorrectly indicate an error if the system boot disk was smaller than 48 GB and other available disks were attached.

Known Issues

  • iSCSI clients can only connect to QuTScloud and mount iSCSI LUNs if the QuTScloud instance is running on DigitalOcean or the same local network. When running QuTScloud on any other cloud platforms, you must first create a VPN connection between the iSCSI client and QuTScloud.
  • QVPN does not support PPTP if the QuTScloud instance is hosted on Azure or Catalyst Cloud. You must instead use another protocol such as QBelt, L2TP, or OpenVPN.

System Requirements

  • QuTScloud requires at least 2 GB of memory and 48 GB of storage space.
