Why do I fail to create VJBOD disks on some remote NAS devices?

Last modified date: 2024-03-05

Applicable Products

  • QTS
  • QuTS hero

Root Cause

New virtual JBOD (VJBOD) features have been introduced in QTS 5.1.0 and QuTS hero h5.1.0. These new features are incompatible with earlier versions of QTS and QuTS hero.

This means that if your local NAS is running QTS 5.0.x (or earlier) or QuTS hero h5.0.x (or earlier), you cannot create a VJBOD disk on a remote NAS running QTS 5.1.0 (or later) or QuTS hero h5.1.0 (or later).

Note
However, if your local NAS is running QTS 5.1.0 (or later) or QuTS hero h5.1.0 (or later), you can still create VJBOD disks on a remote NAS running QTS 5.0.x (or earlier) or QuTS hero h5.0.x (or earlier).

Solution

If you encounter this problem, you can update the local NAS to QTS 5.1.0 (or later) or QuTS hero h5.1.0 (or later).

The best practice is to ensure that both local and remote NAS devices are running the same operating system version.
