How do I set up IPv6 on QuRouter in Japan using DS-Lite (transix) or MAP-E (v6plus)?

Overview

This FAQ guides you through configuring IPv6 WAN settings using DS-Lite (transix) and MAP-E (v6plus) on QuRouter in Japan.

Note
  • JPIX Inc. and INTERNET MULTIFEED CO. are Virtual Network Enablers (VNEs) that provide IPv4 over IPv6 connectivity solutions. JPIX Inc. supports v6plus, while INTERNET MULTIFEED CO. supports DS-Lite (transix). 
  • DS-Lite (transix) and MAP-E (v6plus) are offered by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Japan to allows users to connect to the internet using IPv4 over their IPv6 connection.

Procedure

  1. Log in to QuRouter.
    • QHora routers: Go to Network > Physical Interface Settings > WAN.
    • QMiro routers: Go to Network > WAN and LAN > WAN.
  2. Identify a WAN interface.
  3. Under Action, click .
    The port configuration window appears. 
  4. Navigate to the IP Address Assignment section.
  5. Configure the connection settings.
    SettingUser Action
    DS-Lite (transix)Select Dual-Stack Lite (DS-Lite) to migrate to an IPv6-enabled network provided by Japanese internet service provider INTERNET MULTIFEED CO.
    Note
    Go to IPv6, and select Enable IPv6 to enable DS-Lite settings.
    1. Specify the Address Family Transition Router (AFTR) address.
    2. Specify the B4 IPv4 address.
    MAP-E (v6plus)Mapping of Address and Port with Encapsulation (MAP-E) is a protocol that provides a scalable network environment capable of accommodating a substantial number of IPv4 subscribers within an ISP's IPv6 access network.
    Note
    MAP-E (v6plus) is only available to customers of Japanese internet service providers that support v6plus service. 
    Configure the DNS settings.
    • Auto: Automatically obtain the IP address using DHCP.
    • Manually: Manually assign the IP address for the primary and secondary DNS servers.
    Note
    QNAP recommends specifying at least one DNS server to allow URL lookups.
  6. Click Apply.

QuRouter saves and applies the IPv4 settings. After saving the IPv4 configuration, configure the IPv6 settings to enable full network connectivity. For details, see How to configure IPv6 settings on QuRouter.

Tip

You can check the status of the WAN connection in the WAN Overview screen in Dashboard.
