QES 2.2.0 build 20220316

2022-03-25

Important Notes

New Features

  • You can now enable NFS 4.1 service in Control Panel > Network and File > Win/NFS > NFS Service.

Enhancements

  • Improved the NIC error handling mechanism so that an NIC reset does not automatically trigger controller failover.
  • Added more information in rsync and NAS to NAS backup logs (such as job start and end times, total number of files, and total file size).
  • Added SNMP object identifiers to support managing up to 16 external storage devices.
  • Added an alert message to notify users they cannot use the only SSD in a system pool to create SSD cache.
  • In storage pool and shared folder status and management screens, improved the capacity bar legend with more information and added tooltips to give users a better overview and understanding of their storage pool and shared folder statuses.
  • Improved the SnapSync logging mechanism so that logs can stay in the system longer for users to examine.
  • Improved the UPS status checking mechanism so that it will double-check the UPS status to prevent the system from going into auto-protection mode unnecessarily.
  • Added detailed information in notification emails which alert users when storage controller takeover occurs.
  • Added an event log that notifies users when they fail to delete a LUN or shared folder because it is the only member in a storage group.

Security Updates

  • Fixed a security issue (CVE-2021-3712).
  • Enhanced Network File System (NFS) security.
  • Fixed a minor security issue.

Fixed Issues

  • Updated a confirmation message which appears when enabling QoS. Removed the part of the message that incorrectly stated there should only be one storage pool per controller.
  • Enhanced the mechanism for checking system pool status during firmware updates, so that the system would no longer display incorrect storage pool information after a firmware update.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented automatic controller giveback due to port trunking on the NAS.
  • Fixed a calculation issue that caused an incorrect capacity to be displayed when setting the allocated quota of a shared folder to maximum.
  • In rare occasions, the system would allocate an abnormal amount of storage space to a storage pool due to a data handling error. This issue has now been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a LUN to become invisible after setting a LUN masking policy on a different LUN.
  • Fixed an issue where after expanding a Fibre Channel LUN, the expanded LUN size would not be reflected on the ESXi host.
  • Addressed an issue where the system would sometimes automatically restart when the user tried to perform switchover on a storage pool. The issue was due to a bitwise operation error which has now been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the global disk temperature alarm setting to override the temperature alarm configured for individual disks.
  • Previously users would try but not realize that they failed to create users because the operation is not allowed during HA takeover. Users now receive an alert message so they can try again after takeover is complete.
  • Addressed a rare issue that caused the NAS to unexpectedly shut down multiple times during booting.
  • Fixed an issue where the system could not bring storage pools online after disk migration.
  • Fixed an issue where storage pools could not be imported after updating to QES 2.2.0.
  • Fixed a rare issue where SnapSync jobs would fail after updating to QES 2.2.0.
  • Previously, the system would not resend a notification email after failing to send it the first time. Now the system will retry sending the email until successful so that users will always receive important notifications.
  • Fixed an issue that caused files and folders to disappear from File Station under rare conditions related to time zone conversion.
  • Fixed an incorrect disk checking mechanism that caused users to be unable to create SSD cache under certain conditions.
  • Fixed an issue where storage controller B could not perform data scrubbing.
  • Fixed an issue where the user list in Control Panel would produce an "Unknown error" message and fail to display Active Directory (AD) domain users if there was a mix of different character encodings between the organizational unit names.
  • Fixed an issue where the system was unable to list organizational units if there was a mix of different character encodings between the organizational unit names.
  • Several minor bug fixes.
