Reinforce your QNAP NAS with Seagate’s IronWolf Health Management

Seagate®’s IronWolf Health Management (IHM) (available in select QNAP NAS) helps to continuously safeguard the health of your data. When using supported IronWolf™ or IronWolf Pro hard drives, the overall system reliability is improved by providing users with actionable prevention, intervention, and recovery options.

  • Prevention

IHM monitors your system environment and provides suitable preventative actions to secure your data.

  • Intervention

Avoid catastrophic data loss by allowing IronWolf Health Management to analyze hundreds of parameters, recommending backup as needed.

  • Recovery

If a failure occurs, you have access to IHM’s Rescue Data Recovery Service (2-year service included with IronWolf Pro). IHM provides easy access to IHM’s Rescue Data Recovery Service through QNAP NAS.

Important messages at a glance

IronWolf Health Management keeps records of conditions such as temperature, shock, vibration, intermittent connections and signal integrity. You can check drive information, health status and Rescue Plan coverage all in the same window to attain greater peace of mind.

Run scheduled daily analysis to ensure the highest availability

IHM has adaptive algorithms that monitor critical drive and health parameters related to data transfer, performance, readability, writability and overall reliability. A daily analysis can be scheduled for your IronWolf/IronWolf Pro drives to check their statuses. Reports are saved to the designated shared folder for subsequent review and checkup.

Comparison: IHM & S.M.A.R.T.

S.M.A.R.T. IronWolf Health Management
Monitors 20 drive parameters Monitors over 200 drive parameters that may influence drive health
Reports Pass or Fail status Notifies users of possible prevention and intervention actions ahead of a fail event, thereby reducing the possibility of catastrophic failure and associated data loss
Reports the end impact to drives by monitoring 20 drive parameters with fixed thresholds Reports the end impact to drive and communicates failure mode through output code (for interpretation by Seagate Customer Care only)
Has no memory of past trends of thresholds being exceeded Maintains a moving window of parametric data for trend analysis and assesses impact of external stresses over the drive life
