No. We only recommend restoring system settings backup to the same NAS.
A system settings backup contains configuration information specific to the original NAS, such as network settings, storage layout, and hardware-specific bindings. Restoring this backup to a different NAS is not supported and can cause configuration conflicts or unexpected behavior.
Recommendation
If you are setting up a new or replacement NAS and want to bring over your data and settings, use one of QNAP's supported migration methods instead:
- Direct System Migration: Move your existing drives directly into a compatible new NAS model to preserve data, settings, and apps.
- Back up data, then reinitialize: Back up your data, reinitialize your drives in the new NAS, then copy the data back. Note that settings and apps are not retained with this method.
- Hybrid Backup Sync: Set up the new NAS separately and use Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS) to copy data from the old NAS to the new NAS.
