Summary
A vulnerability has been reported to affect earlier QNAP devices running QTS 4.3.4 to 4.3.6. Caused by improper limitations of a pathname to a restricted directory, this vulnerability allows for renaming arbitrary files on the target system, if exploited.
We have already fixed this vulnerability in the following versions:
- QTS 4.3.6.0895 build 20190328 (and later)
- QTS 4.3.4.0899 build 20190322 (and later)
This issue does not affect QTS 4.4.x or QTS 4.5.x.
Recommendation
To secure your device, we strongly recommend updating your system to the latest version to benefit from vulnerability fixes. You can check the product support status to see the latest updates available to your NAS model.
Installing the QTS Update
- Log on to QTS as administrator.
- Go to Control Panel > System > Firmware Update.
- Under Live Update, click Check for Update.
QTS downloads and installs the latest available update.
Tip: You can also download the update from the QNAP website. Go to Support > Download Center and then perform a manual update for your specific device.
