How to Configure CyberGhost on QuRouter Using OpenVPN?

This tutorial explains how to configure a CyberGhost VPN client using OpenVPN on QuRouter.

Downloading CyberGhost VPN Server Information

To connect to a CyberGhost server, you must first download the CyberGhost OpenVPN configuration file. The configuration file contains the settings and instructions required by the OpenVPN client (CyberGhost VPN) to connect to the OpenVPN server.

1. Go to https://my.cyberghostvpn.com/login.
2. Specify the username or email address.
3. Specify the password.
4. Click Log in.
   The Overview page appears.
5. Under Products, click VPN.
6. Navigate to ADVANCED CONFIGURATION.
7. Next to Manual setup, click Configure Device.The Manual setup page appears.
8. Configure the OpenVPN settings.
9. Click Save Configuration.
10. Go to Download Hub.
11. Click Manage Devices.
12. Under Routers or other devices, locate the OpenVPN configuration file.
13. Click View.
14. Enable additional features.
15. Click Download Configuration.The OpenVPN configuration file is downloaded.
16. Locate the compressed file on your computer.
17. Unzip the contents of the compressed file.
    Note

    The configuration file contains the following files:

    • ca.crt: The public certificate file of the Certificate Authority (CA)
    • client.crt: The client's certificate file
    • client.key: The client's private key
    • openvpn.ovpn: The OpenVPN configuration file
18. Paste the contents of the CA and client certificate files at the end of the OpenVPN configuration file.

Creating an OpenVPN Connection in QuRouter

The next step is to create an OpenVPN connection profile in QuRouter using the CyberGhost VPN configuration file you downloaded earlier.

1. Log in to QuRouter.
2. Go to QVPN Clients > QVPN Connection Profiles.
3. Click Add Profile.
   The Create an OpenVPN Connection window appears.
4. Configure the OpenVPN connection profile.

   Setting	User Action
   OpenVPN connection profile	Add an OpenVPN configuration file. Click Browse. The File Explorer window opens. Locate the OpenVPN configuration file. Click Open.
   OpenVPN connection profile name	Specify a name to help identify this profile.
   Username	Specify the username to access the VPN server.
   Password	Specify a password to access the VPN server. Tip Password requirements: Length: 1–64 ASCII characters Valid characters: A–Z, a–z, 0–9

5. Select Automatically reconnect to OpenVPN after restarting the server.
6. Click Add.
   QuRouter adds the QVPN connection profile.

Enabling the QVPN Client Service

• Log in to QuRouter.
• Go to QVPN Clients > QVPN Connection Profiles.
• Select an active CyberGhost VPN profile.
• Next to Enable QVPN client service, click.
  QuRouter enables the QVPN client service.
