Unfortunately, QNAP is unable to decrypt affected files. You must revert the files from snapshots or restore files from a clean backup.
Before copying the backup data to the NAS, please read enhancing NAS security instruction and ensure that you have performed these highly-recommended actions:
- Update QTS and all applications to the latest versions.
- Install Malware Remover in App Center.
- Remove unknown applications.
- Change user passwords to make them more complicated.
- Change the system port from 80, 8080-8090, 443, 8443 to an uncommon number.
- Enable IP Access Protection to protect accounts from brute force attacks.
- If you are still worried, you can also consider completely reinitializing the NAS before restoring the backup files.
Having a set backup strategy is also beneficial.
- Follow the 3-2-1 backup strategy: Keep 3 copies of important files, keep the files on at least 2 types of storage media, and store 1 copy off-site.
- We recommend having at least one offline backup on an external drive and one online backup on the cloud of important files. You can back up the data using Hybrid Backup Sync.
- Regularly take snapshots of your data volumes.
