  • Background

    Momentum is a large sportswear franchise in Taiwan. They wanted to gain insight into optimizing store and staffing efficiency and to learn customers preferences. This information is usually accumulated through experience and speculation.

  • Challenge

    To gain customer preferences data, Momentum required a retail solution that could recognize clear and accurate customer profiles to avoid counting the same person more than once when detecting the person in a different time. They were also concerned about processing in-store customer activities could be highly bandwidth-consuming and required large storage capacity. The premise equipment could be better choice for them.

Solution

Momentum tried out QNAP's Smart Retail Solution - a QuCPE Network Virtualization Premise Equipment and QNAP's KoiRetail with Intel OpenVINO® and VAS Library. QuCPE uses high-performance Intel® Xeon®-D 12-core processors with the Intel® Data Plane Development Kit and Smart NIC SR-IOV hardware acceleration technology. This solution transformed Momentum's store data into business intelligence, and assisted them in forming customer-centric business strategies with AI technology.
KoiRetail is a store traffic analysis software that analyzes visitor flows based on their shopping journey. By integrating people counting, path analysis and heat map, store managers can interrelate in-store behaviors.

Result

QNAP's Smart Retail Solution KoiRetail can determine shopper demographics with video-based analytic technology. In-store traffic flows uncovers unspoken feedback from shoppers to improve space and display design. Areas of Interest allows to collect the customer flow and the average dwell time. Heat Map discovers shopper dwelling counts and time spent. Provided those analytics, Momentum could find potential best-selling items and improve display on store. By implementing this solution, Momentum gained valuable sales insights and reports to enhance marketing strategies plans and business operations to improve their customer experience.
