QuTS MEGA 2.0.0 build 20260813

2026-08-17

New Features

  • Snapshot management: a dedicated snapshot dashboard, list, and timeline history, which let administrators review protection status, with cloning, batch operations, and scheduled snapshot policies for routine data protection.
  • Mirroring backup: snapshot backup pairs can now be established between a primary and a secondary site, with role management on both ends for off-site data protection.
  • Automated and offline cluster deployment: clusters can be deployed automatically, or from a configuration file and offline package in environments without internet access.
  • QNAP Service War Room: configurable during deployment, with connection and service status visible from the cluster interface for faster remote support.
  • Domain server search base selection: administrators can scope Active Directory queries to a chosen organizational unit, and thus only the relevant users and groups are listed.
  • External syslog server: system logs can be forwarded to an external syslog server for centralized retention and compliance.
  • Cluster diagnosis log download: diagnosis logs from every node, including hardware information, can be downloaded as a single bundle to shorten troubleshooting.

Enhancements

  • File services: NFS supports per-IP squash and service-level configuration for finer access control, and SMB access logging is configurable by event type.
  • User experience: interface interactions have been improved throughout the product.
  • Performance: the cluster is tuned automatically during the build, and thus deployments start from a sound baseline without manual adjustment.
  • Custom SMTP settings can now be saved without a password, supporting mail relay servers that do not require authentication.
  • Grafana has been upgraded to a secure version, resolving the vulnerabilities reported by security scanning.

Fixed Issues

  • The domain user list now loads correctly in directories containing more than 10,000 users.
  • NFS client read operations no longer hang when the NFS service does not respond to a CephFS capability revocation.
  • Deleting an NFS shared folder now also removes the corresponding domain computer object and its authentication credentials, so repeated create and delete cycles no longer leave entries behind.
  • The management address on a node now comes back automatically after an operation that rebuilds the network bonding interface, such as a firmware update or restoring a network configuration.

Known Issues

  • Adjusting the column width of the log list may cause slight interface flickering in certain browsers. This does not affect system functionality.
  • When a large number of files are renamed or moved over SMB in certain environments, there is a low probability that the SMB connection may be interrupted. This issue is most likely to occur when the source and destination are located on the same SMB service. Placing the source and destination on separate SMB services can avoid this issue. We plan to address this issue in a future release.
  • When a multi-node cluster is updated to this version using the offline update method, the rolling update may stop partway through and not proceed to the remaining nodes. The cluster keeps running, and no data is lost during this time, but the update does not complete on its own and requires manual assistance to resolve. We plan to fix this issue in an upcoming release.
  • During an offline upgrade, if a node experiences an unexpected power interruption within a very narrow time window while the update is being applied, the node may fail to start up afterward. This is extremely unlikely to occur; no data is lost, and the node can be recovered by following a recovery procedure. We plan to fix this issue in an upcoming release.
  • When files are opened continuously at a high rate over SMB, a small percentage of read events may not be recorded in the access log. This does not affect file access or any other system functionality.
  • The current version does not support creating virtual machine files on an SMB shared folder from a Hyper-V host. This capability will be supported in a future release.
