Why can't I see thumbnails for my photos in File Station?

Scenario

When attempting to view photos in File Station, you sometimes receive an error message that states:

Generating thumbnails for multimedia files require Multimedia Console. Go to App Center to install and start Multimedia Console, and then enable multimedia playback settings in File Station.

Solution

You can use the following process to display photo previews within Flie Station.

  1. Log in to the NAS as an administrator.
  2. Open App Center.
  3. Install and enable Multimedia Console.
    Thumbnails and previews generate automatically after installing Multimedia Console.
  4. Open File Station.
  5. Click (More Settings) in the top-right corner and select Settings in the drop-down menu.
    The Options window opens.
  6. Go to the Multimedia tab.
  7. Enable Support multimedia playback, streaming, and thumbnail display.
