About Qmedia

Qmedia is a multimedia playback application that lets you browse multimedia files stored on your QNAP NAS and play them directly on your smart TV or digital media device. Providing features such as online video content, music playlists, and photo slideshows, Qmedia helps enhance your media experience and enrich your digital life.

Installing Qmedia

The fist step is to download Qmedia to your digital media device. Qmedia supports Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku devices. You can download Qmedia using the following links:

Configuring the NAS

After installing Qmedia, the next step is to make sure your NAS is configured and ready to stream media. In order to function correctly, Qmedia requires you to configure Multimedia Console, Video Station, Music Station, & Photo Station.

Before starting, make sure these apps are updated to the latest versions.

  1. Update the applications.
    1. Go to App Center.
    2. Enter the app name in the search bar.

      The installation package appears.

    3. Click the button underneath the installation package.

      Click to install the application.

      Update

      Click to update the application to the newest version.

      Open

      No action needed.
    4. Repeat step a - d for each application.
  2. Open Multimedia Console.
  3. Enable Multimedia Services.
  4. Go to Content Management.
  5. Configure Video Station.
    1. Click Video Station.
    2. Click Edit.

      The Edit Video Station Content Sources window opens.

    3. Select a location where you store your video files.
  6. Configure Music Station.
    1. Click Music Station.
    2. Click Edit.

      The Edit Music Station Content Sources window opens.

    3. Select a location where you store your music files.
  7. Configure Photo Station.
    1. Click Photo Station.
    2. Click Edit.

      The Edit Photo Station Content Sources window opens.

    3. Select a location where you store your photo files.

Configuring Qmedia

After you've configured the NAS, the next step is to connect it to Qmedia.

  1. Open Qmedia on your digital media device.

    The Qmedia landing page opens.

  2. Locate the NAS.
    1. Click Add NAS.

      The Add NAS Manually window opens.

    2. Specify the connection information.

      Field

      User Action

      IP Address

      Specify the NAS IP address or myQNAPcloud URL Address.

      Specify the account username.

      Password

      Specify the account password.

      Port

      Specify the port to connect to the NAS.

    3. Click Login.

      Qmedia connects to the NAS.

  3. Optional: Configure the Qmedia settings.
    1. Click Settings.

      The Settings window opens.

    2. Configure the Qmedia settings.

Qmedia connects to your NAS.
