In Motion Design is a design company in Taiwan. Founded in 2016, it pursues innovative design with its customers "to find the moment of quietude together in the life of rhythm" centered around the idea of "Motion". Their business scope spans different fields such as industrial design, image processing, event exhibition planning and spatial integration design.
Before adopting the QNAP TS-453B, In Motion Design was using common public cloud storage services and external hard drives to store and back up files. With steady increases in data growth, In Motion Design realized that these file storage methods were not an ideal long-term solution. Although public clouds and external hard drives have their advantages, they were not enough to fully meet In Motion Design’s file storage requirements.
When using public clouds and external hard drives for file storage and sharing, if team members needed to work together on a project, they would first download the file to their computer and then edit the file. This would often take a lot of time. In addition, the process of file exchange between team members was very cumbersome, which in turn affected the progress of team members. Moreover, when a project was in progress, in order to allow members to simultaneously obtain the latest files, they would also use a separate computer to temporarily store the ongoing project files. However, when there were several projects at the same time (especially when editing audio and video files) they would often run out of storage space on this computer. In Motion Design also used external hard drives to back up files, but they encountered several incidences of hard disk failure. This led to expensive and sometimes ineffective data recovery processes, with the crushing loss of irreplaceable work. What In Motion Design needed was a cost-effective storage solution that combined high-capacity, convenient access and complete data backup mechanisms.
To overcome their problems, In Motion Design adopted the QNAP TS-453B. The TS-453B features a high-performance Intel® Celeron® J3455 quad-core 1.5 GHz processor and up to 8GB DDR3L dual-channel memory. With support for SATA 6Gb/s drives and two Gigabit Ethernet ports the TS-453B provides a continuous reading speed of up to 225 MB/s. The built-in USB-C QuickAccess and SDXC memory card slot also provides convenient connectivity for moving and backing up files without requiring a network connection. All of these features allow In Motion Design to handle large amounts of image editing work smoothly and quickly.
The TS-453B is compatible with most devices on the market. Even if team members use computers with different operating systems, they can still easily access and share NAS-based files to improve their teamwork and collaboration efficiency. In addition, they can also use Qsync to sync files from the TS-453B to connected desktops, laptops and mobile devices - ensuring that everyone has instant access to the latest versions of files.
Team members can directly connect their computer to the TS-453B using the USB-C QuickAccess Port to access files and data without requiring a network connection. This is especially useful for transferring large files and data without affecting network performance.
The TS-453B has four drive bays for installing hard disks. When In Motion Design need to expand their storage capacity, they can connect a QNAP Expansion Enclosures (the UX-500P or UX-800P) to add additional hard drives.
QNAP NAS provides a comprehensive backup, recovery and synchronization solution - Hybrid Backup Sync - which can efficiently back up files to a local/remote QNAP NAS, external devices, remote server, or cloud storage space. If data loss occurs, the backup files can be quickly restored to maintain business operations.
The TS-453B greatly optimizes the workflows of the In Motion Design team, making file sharing easy and simple. The comprehensive data backup mechanism allows files to be properly protected. If an accident occurs, the files can be quickly restored using snapshots. The TS-453B helped them improve productivity by at least 20% and also strengthened their IT environment.
