I tried to create an iSCSI LUN with 4096 bytes Sector Size in VMWare ESXi 5.5 (or earlier) and was unsuccessful.

Cause:
VMWare ESXi5.5 (and earlier versions) only supports 512 bytes Sector Size iSCSI LUN.

Solution:
Unfortunately, this is a VMWare limitation and cannot be rectified. You have to create iSCSI LUNs with a 512 bytes Sector Size.
