Analysis

If you are unable to access streams shared by QVR Pro, it may be caused by the following.

The links to shared streams hosted by QVR Pro use HTTP or RTSP protocols

This requires configuration (such as port forwarding on the router or establishing a VPN connection) before the links can be accessed from the Internet. The URLs used in sharing streams must be directly accessible.

  • For HTTP sharing: Uses the same port as NAS management. The default port is 8080 for HTTP and 443 for HTTPS. You can find the sharing URL by opening QVR Pro and going to Camera Setting > Action > Share > Sharing via HTTP
  • For RTSP sharing: Click the share icon and select Sharing via RTSP...

The ports used must be opened on your router. However, it is strongly recommend to use a VPN instead of port forwarding.

The codec from the IP camera cannot be decoded by the client currently used to view the stream

QVR Pro shares the stream as-is. Which means the client side must be able to decode the video stream from the camera. Windows may require an H.265 HEVC decoder or a compatible application (such as VLC media player) to view the stream.
