The reset button on your QNAP NAS allows you to perform two key actions: reset the administrator password and network settings, or restore the device to factory default settings. The required press-and-hold durations for each action depend on the hardware platform of your NAS (x86 for Intel/AMD-based models, ARM for ARM-based models).

Note:
- Pressing and holding the reset button for 3 seconds will reset the administrator password and network settings to default, but will not affect your data or other system settings.
- Pressing and holding the reset button for the longer duration (10 or 15 seconds, depending on platform) will restore the NAS to factory default settings. This action will erase all system settings and app configurations. User data and shared files will remain intact, but you will need to reconfigure your NAS after the reset.
Procedure
- Locate the reset button on the rear panel of your NAS. It is usually a small recessed button that requires a pointed object (such as a paperclip) to press.
- To reset the administrator password and network settings:
- Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds until you hear one beep.
- To restore factory default settings:
- Press and hold the reset button for the platform-specific duration shown above (10 seconds for ARM, 15 seconds for x86) until you hear two beeps.
Warning: Restoring factory default settings will erase all system configurations and app settings. Your user data and shares will not be deleted, but you must reconfigure your NAS after the reset.
