User access controls
Administrators can create shared folders, user groups, and users on the QNAP NAS with specified read and write access. To save effort on account creation and management, domain user accounts and passwords can be imported to QNAP NAS easily by joining the NAS to Microsoft Azure AD DS, Windows AD® or LDAP domain.

RAID data protection
QNAP NAS supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60, Z1, Z2, Z3 and hot spare configurations such as 5+ hotspare, 6+ hotspare and 10+ hotspare to protect the system from possible data loss caused by hard disk drive failure.

File Station combines various tools and integrates the “Media Viewer” media browser for instant and easy file preview.

You can directly open and modify Microsoft Office documents stored on the QNAP NAS with Microsoft Office Online. Downloading Word documents, Excel worksheets, and PowerPoint presentations from your NAS to PC for editing is now a distant past!

On-the-fly transcoding* allows you to watch a video while it is being converted in real time. You can set specific folders to automatic transcode video content so any video added to these folders will be automatically converted to the specified video format.

Share NAS space
NAS administrators can allocate space to other NAS users, and specify a storage quota in File Station.

Send download links through email, social media, or create a share link for files or folders and copy & paste it where you need it. By enabling "Allow file upload to this folder", your friends can use the share link to upload files to your NAS.
