Can I Convert a Static Volume to Thin or Thick?

4.4.1 or above

It is not possible to convert a static volume to a thin or thick volume (also called “flexible volumes”).

Static volumes are created directly from a RAID group. While thin or thick volumes are created inside a Storage Pool.

To be able to use the flexible volumes features, one would need to:

Backup data from the static volume
Remove the static volume
Create new Storage Pool
Create a thin or thick volume inside the new Storage Pool
Copy the data back.
