QNAP Security Releases QVR 5.0.2 Updating GNU Bash Patch & Increasing Compatibility to Over 3,000 IP Cameras
Taipei, Taiwan, October 9, 2014 – QNAP® Security today announced the release of the new QVR 5.0.2 firmware for VioStor NVR, which includes an official GNU Bash patch and adds compatibility for 200 more IP cameras.
QVR 5.0.2 has fixed the GNU Bash Environment Variable Command Injection Vulnerability (CVE-2014-6271, CVE-2014-7169), also known as “Shellshock” that can allow attackers to gain remote control over UNIX/Linux-based systems. All users are strongly advised to upgrade their VioStor NVR to this QVR version. Though the other four revealed vulnerabilities (CVE-2014-6277, CVE-2014-6278, CVE-2014-7186 and CVE-2014-7187) do not see direct impact to the VioStor NVR system, QNAP still schedules to release another new firmware version fixing them to prevent security risk.
QVR 5.0.2 is applicable to the following VioStor NVR models:
